At OOSC we follow the Government Food Standards and advice from our local Environmental Health Team when preparing and serving food and drink to our children. This is our allergen matrix, covering foods we may serve, as well as any cooking or food sampling at the clubs.

We provide a healthy breakfast and after school snacks for children. At our HAF-funded and regular holiday clubs we provide the option of a healthy lunch too. Below is an example menu from our Charlton Wood Easter holiday club 2022:

Children are encouraged to drink water regularly and help themselves to water throughout their time at the club. We also offer a small amount of diluted fruit juice or milk. We discuss the importance of healthy options and always encourage children to eat fruit and vegetables at every meal or snack.

Children are encouraged to be independent. They serve themselves, spread their own toast or crumpets and clear up and wash their own plates and cups. They always sit at the table to eat, pass foods around and use excellent table manners!

There is always a member of club staff on site with up to date Food Hygiene Level 2 qualification, in order to prepare food at the club. One on site staff member will have completed their South Gloucestershire Food Allergy and Intolerance training.

Sometimes we have a healthy picnic at the clubs!outdoor picnic SMBS
